Anita Amirrezvani is a novelist, editor, occasional librettist, and writing coach who was born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in San Francisco. Her first novel, The Blood of Flowers, has appeared in 32 languages, was long listed for the 2008 Orange Prize for Fiction (now the Women’s Prize), and was a bestseller in Holland and Lithuania. Her second novel, Equal of the Sun, has appeared in nine languages. Anita co-edited Tremors: New Fiction by Iranian American Writers, the first anthology of its kind, with Persis Karim. Her libretto for the opera “Earth 2.0” with music by composer Jake Heggie premiered in 2024 at the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. For fifteen years, she taught in the MFA and undergraduate writing programs at the California College of the Arts.
